Celebrate!Older Americans Month

Speak out for seniors this May!

Learn more about our community's seniors and join us in celebrating 2017 Older Americans Month.

Each year, May is dedicated to celebrating older Americans, serving as a platform for all of us to honor their contributions to our economy, politics and the arts. May is also a time when we come together to raise awareness about the issues they face. This year’s Older Americans Month theme, Age Out Loud, speaks to the way older adults are reinventing themselves with new interests and passions, engaging with their communities and “blazing a trail” of positive impact for everyone around them.

This month is the perfect opportunity to talk to your Members of Congress about the work you do in your community to keep this vibrant population of older Americans healthy and independent. We ask you to join us in taking action by urging your Members of Congress to increase Fiscal Year 2018 funding for the Older Americans Act (OAA) to $874.6 million – the same level authorized and unanimously passed by Congress last year – and by asking your program's Members of Congress to cosponsor the DELIVER Act. Each of these asks will help to ensure that the more than 2.4 million seniors you serve can continue to Age Out Loud for years to come.
