Planned Giving

Leave your legacy by ensuring that the needs of future seniors are met for years to come. Our staff is ready to help you plan for your future and the future of others. The Jean Wade Legacy Society, named after our founder, was created to honor individuals who remember Meals on Wheels People in their future plans.  Gift Planning can provide you with a wonderful way to support Meals on Wheels People, provide financial benefits for you and your family, and leave a lasting impact on seniors in our community. There are a variety of ways planned giving may work for you.

Bequests. A gift through your will or living trust is a simple but significant way to remember Meals on Wheels People. You may designate Meals on Wheels People as beneficiary of a specific dollar amount, specific asset, or percentage of your estate.

Gift Annuities. You make an irrevocable charitable contribution of cash or marketable securities to Meals on Wheels People in exchange for a promise that you will receive a specific amount of partially tax-free income each year for life. You’ll be able to make a significant gift to help provide hot meals to homebound seniors while continuing to enjoy the income. At the completion of the terms of the agreement, the remainder of the original principal of the contribution will benefit Meals on Wheels People.

Charitable Trusts. Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs) can be a very powerful planning tool for retirement and estate planning. CRTs provide payments to the donor or other designated beneficiary for the term of the trust. At the end of the term, the remaining principal is distributed to Meals on Wheels People. CRTs offer four favorable tax outcomes: capital gains tax avoidance, income tax deduction, tax-free compounding, and estate tax reduction.

Gifts of Retirement Assets, Insurance Policies, Securities.  Name Meals on Wheels People as a beneficiary and make an impact on the life of a senior.

Gifts of Real Estate. When you donate real estate to Meals on Wheels People, either outright or in exchange for a gift annuity or CRT, you can avoid capital gains. We also want to hear from you if you have already included Meals on Wheels People in your estate plans.
