Meals on Wheels are available to anyone age 60 or older, regardless of income. Seniors must be homebound, unable to prepare meals on their own and be willing to receive meals for at least one full week.
It's easy! Just call 503.736.6325 or register on line. Meals are delivered the next business day.
Every state has a Meals on Wheels program, but a variety of nonprofit organizations provide these services. We provide Meals on Wheels service to Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties.
The overall cost of each meal is $3.95. The suggested donation for seniors over the age of 60 is $3.
We have 35 dining rooms throughout the greater metropolitan area where active seniors can join with others for a hot, nutritious meal and good company. Check out our locations .
Meals on Wheels People Spring Luncheon Raises Funds to Provide 85,000 Hot Meals to Area Seniors
Supporters and volunteers of Meals on Wheels People donated enough funds in just one hour to provide 85,000 hot meals to seniors in the greater metropolitan area at the organization’s annual Spring Luncheon presented by New Seasons Market. The event is Meals on Wheels People’s single largest fundraising event of the year. Combined with an earlier luncheon held in Vancouver in April, the event raised more than $500,000.
A lottery-style system will allow eligible seniors to obtain Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program food vouchers for use at local participating farmers’ markets in Clark County this summer. A limited number of vouchers will be distributed from June 17 to the 20 at four Clark County locations.
The effects of federal budget cuts, known as sequestration, will have a direct impact on senior nutrition programs. Meals on Wheels has been featured in two stories over the past few days.
